WHY WE ARE REQUESTING A CHANGE
CPUN wishes to add the role of Former President as an officer role on our board's executive committee. Current officer roles are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Making Former President an officer of CPUN is good for the long term health of our organization. It adds continuity and experience to our officers group, creates room for a new member of the board to become an officer, and it creates an opportunity to keep former presidents - who have historically experienced “burnout” at the conclusion of their term - engaged in the board in a less demanding capacity.
The officer role of Former President would be an elected position just as any other officer role is and no more than one Former President can serve in the role at any one time.
HOW THE REVISED BYLAWS WOULD READ
The bylaw change would be written as follows:
-
Article V
- Section 1: Membership. The Officers of CPUN shall consist of the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and no more than one Former President.
- NEW: Section 10: Former President. The Former President shall provide the Officers with continuity of information, resources, and relationships across terms.
